We’re slowly approaching the middle of the week and I want us to reflect on our journey towards achieving our goals. We get too busy trying to speed up through the week and get a bit of time off and forget how hard we’ve actually worked for that weekend.
Take time to check in with yourself. How are you feeling? What do you need to keep you going? Ask yourself questions you fear the answer to because those are the ones that matter. I’ve often avoided thinking about how I was feeling because I was ashamed to admit I wasn’t doing so well. I was scared of thinking of what else I needed to keep me going because I thought that made me weak. I couldn’t have been further away from the truth, and the moment I took checking in with myself seriously I felt so much lighter because I wasn’t trying to hide things from myself anymore.
It’s important to pause and observe how we feel, contemplate our emotions so we know how to best help ourselves. A lot of the time, what we’re missing is a bit of encouragement. We all get encouraged at the beginning of a project either by friends, family, or ourselves but, once the process is underway for a little while the encouragements stop and we feel odd asking for them.
We all need to be encouraged from time to time and that’s okay. So, here’s mine for you: you are doing great and you are doing your best. You are making progress whether small or big and you will eventually reach your goals. Don’t fear the process, it will take you where you’re needed.
