As the Monday blues come upon many of us, I just wanted to share this list of things we should perhaps carry in our minds more often.
- It’s okay to have a bad day
Not all days will be filled with happiness and enjoyment. Some will try us and push us to our limits, but what matters is that we remember this is just one day of our lives. We’ve still got so much more left to live.
2. It’s okay to make mistakes
Mistakes are part of the learning process. If we don’t make mistakes, how will we ever learn? They are a part of our growth journey and they are the key to our success if we can learn something from them.
3. Setback is not a failure
We all experience setbacks in our lives at some point or another. It’s easy to see it as a failure and use it as an excuse to give up, but truth be told the road to success isn’t always paved. We may encounter potholes, broken bridges, and dead ends. That shouldn’t mean the end of our dream, it should push us to find another way out.
4. It’s okay to take a break
It is absolutely fine to take some time to recharge and regroup. Our batteries can’t last forever and just like everybody else we need to take breaks to refill our energy. Don’t try to keep pouring from an empty cup!
5. Nothing is perfect
You will always find flaws in everything around you and that is just human nature because we always seek perfection in everything and when that’s not the case we lose interest. Instead of throwing something away because it’s not perfect, you must take time to improve it, polish it nicely and get it as close to your standards as you can, but always with the idea in mind that it will never be perfect and that’s okay.
6. You are stronger than you think
If you don’t believe this one think of this: How many times did you want to give up, but didn’t? How many times did you think I can’t do this, but you did? And how many times did you feel like you would never heal, but you did? YOU.ARE.STRONG and that is a fact, no one can take that away from you. So, don’t doubt yourself and your strength, channel it in your moments of need.
7. Asking for help is strength
Weakness isn’t something we show when we seek advice or help from others. On the contrary, it is a show of strength and maturity because we know needing help doesn’t equal weakness but it is a smart choice when we’ve run out of ideas. Ask for help when you need it, and admit you need help instead of breaking down. We all need people sometimes.
8. Small steps are also progress
Last but not least, small steps are also progress. Just because there isn’t some big event to show achievement or that you’re going in the right direction, it doesn’t mean you’re not making progress. Big things are formed of small steps so don’t be discouraged because you can’t see a massive change. All those small things will amount to your big break one day.
