Remember you once dreamed of being where you are now

on

It sometimes comes as second nature to keep on visualizing the future we want and forgetting about where we are now. The temptation of putting an emphasis on what we want to happen robs us of the moments that are happening in the present.

I have fallen victim to this habit in the past because I was so wrapped up in my own work and what I needed to do to make my business successful that I forgot how far I had actually come. I’m finally feeling more comfortable in my skin, not allowing that Imposter Syndrome to dominate my life, and I can see progress I’ve never seen before.

I definitely resonate with today’s quote because a few months ago I dreamed of being in the exact place I am now. I dreamed of knowing what I was doing instead of just feeling lost, I dreamed of making sales and now I am, I dreamed of enjoying the work I do and today I can say that’s true.

I once fantasized so much about what I’m living now but I forget about it sometimes. I get busy making plans, doing research, creating products, and loads of other things a business needs to grow and I lose focus of the present.

I enjoy days like today when I can remind myself of how far I’ve come and allow myself to be proud of my dreams coming true even if there are so many other things I want to see happen in the future. It’s important to take time to reflect (I always say this😅but it’s true) and allow yourself time to understand your experiences, analyze them, and refocus yourself if you’ve deviated from your initial goal.

Take today to do that. Stop thinking about the future and reflect on the past few weeks or months, you might already be living a part of your dream you didn’t even know about, I know I am. But also, be gentle with yourself as you reflect on everything. Give everything you feel some space to exist, it’s important we come to terms with our emotions and we don’t push them away.

They may sometimes be uncomfortable or annoying but giving them space and listening to that voice in your head that just needs to vent is incredibly healthy. Take some time for yourself today and just reassure yourself you’re on track and on the right path towards your dreams.
